Refugee Week – A Great Online Campaign

refugeeThis week is Refugee Week.

To promote the fact, The Refugee Week partnership – a coalition of 12 agencies –  has launched an online campaign as part of a UK wide programme of events.

See the site here.

The campaign celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK – a potentially tricky subject to tackle.

Their creative solution is The Simple Acts campaign, inviting people to do one of 20 easy things to change perceptions of refugees.  The website has a ‘homely’ feel, with post-it notes and drawings that make the site and its content approachable and inviting.

The ‘Simple Acts’ in question include watching a movie, completing a quiz or creating your own ‘act’… success is measured by recording the number of acts completed.

The site invites users to forward to friends, tweet about what they have done, and provides a whole toolkit for teachers including ready-made lesson plans – a teacher’s dream!

Engaging, informative, shareable and measurable – just what a third sector online campaign should be.
