As email marketers, we are all actively engaged in actively engaging with our email contacts!
That’s why we’ve made some changes to dotMailer’s Contacts functionality, so now a contact who has previously unsubscribed from your list, can re-subscribe themselves.
They can do this simply by submitting a contact form on your website or on Facebook – as long as the form is generated in the Contacts section of dotMailer.
How does the re-subscribe process work?
Once a contact has submitted the signup form they will be shown a message stating when they were unsubscribed and why (whether it was at their request or because their email account bounced a previous message).
This message will indicate that they have been sent an email to confirm they do wish to sign up.
An email will be sent to the address entered in the signup form asking them to confirm that they want to sign up.
This email will contain two links: one link for the user to click to get to the confirmation page, and one link to report that it was not them that made the request and to report abuse.
What does this mean for dotMailer users?
People’s preferences and needs change over time, so yesterday’s unsubscriber may become tomorrow’s re-subscriber.
Keep promoting the benefits of subscribing to your email list at all your customer and contact touch points – your website, your transactional emails, in your correspondence.
Use dotMailer to set up a preference centre for your contacts, and take advantage of doMailer’s web form creator tool to make sure you have prominently-placed signup forms on your website that integrate directly with your Contacts list in dotMailer.
