MagentoLive UK – it’s nearly here

It has been a busy year so far, what with a steady schedule of Magento events. However, with Magento Imagine and MagentoLive France now over until 2017, it’s time for the Magento community to get together in the UK.

This year MagentoLive UK 2016 takes place from June 20 to 21 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel. It’s within walking distance of some of London’s most iconic attractions. A fitting venue you would say.

For two days, the who’s who of the Magento community will be under one roof. They’ll be offering attendees the chance to maximise their Magento investment by:

  • Connecting with ecommerce experts.
  • Meeting the Magento team and getting their industry and company updates.
  • Gaining the relevant insights and knowledge to take an online. business to the next level. There are plenty of breakout sessions from online retailers and Magento partners to educate and motivate.

With speakers from Magento, Hornby Hobbies, Braintree Payment (PayPal), and more. We’re excited for the kick-off on June 20.

To celebrate a great year so far, dotdigital’s Client Services Director, Skip Fidura and Slendertone’s CRM Manager, Doug Taylor, will be running a breakout session on day 1. The topic is ‘Engaging buyers: 10 Revenue Driving Email Programs’. So stop along and discover how Slendertone optimized its marketing campaigns and increased ROI.

You can see the full schedule and agenda here.

As it’s our local MagentoLive, we thought we’d share some of our knowledge of the area. Plus we have tips for getting to this year’s conference and enjoying local attractions.

If you’re not from London, getting around can be daunting. But don’t worry, you’ve plenty of transport options:

  • Trains. The hotel name may say ‘Westminster’ but Waterloo station is located directly next to the venue. It’s also a better option for avoiding hordes of tourists on Westminster Bridge! Waterloo station offers both overground and underground services, with underground being the most efficient way of getting around town.

The station serves three underground lines: the Northern line, Jubilee line and the Bakerloo line. If you’re arriving into one of the other main London stations, it’ll most likely either be:

  1. King’s Cross. It’s around 17 minutes from Waterloo and it’s best reached by taking the Victoria and Bakerloo lines
  2. Paddington. It’s 20 minutes from Waterloo and is reached quickest by taking the Circle and Jubilee lines
  3. London Bridge. It’s 8 minutes from Waterloo and can be reached via the Jubilee line
  • Bus. Although there’s a risk of traffic, you can hop on and off a bus at will. Check out the London bus routes here on the official Transport for London website. (
  • Taxi. The iconic London taxi. Otherwise known as the black cab, it can be found everywhere in the city. A good tip is to download and use the Hailo app, which lets you order a cab based on your location.
  • River transport. The Thames Clipper can be a more relaxing way of getting around the busy city. It has piers stretching across East, Central and West London. You’ll be able to get off at London Eye attraction and walk to Waterloo in a matter of minutes. (

Download the City Mapper app as it’s a great asset to those looking to keep up to date with travel news in London. In short, it will guide you to wherever you need to be.
