Networking can be tough, especially in a sprawling ecosystem like Magento’s. Here’s of Head of Channel Relationships and guru of all things Magento, Jonny Dixon with a small guide to a handful of folks you should meet at next week’s #MLUK2014!
This year’s Magento Live in London, is going to superb, and we’re not just saying that because we’re Platinum sponsors. The diverse conference program spread over two days is reason enough to go. However, the guest list presents an amazing community building opportunity for merchants, marketers and developers alike.
We’ve compiled a list of a few of the folk that we’re looking forward to hanging out with at Live, who you should too. Given the vast amount of talent and leadership bound to be pouring through the doors at the Plaza next week, this list is by no means exhaustive – but definitely something to start those conversations with.
1 – Ben Marks
Magento’s brand new technology and developer Evangelist is one of the new friendly faces of the eCommerce platform’s drive to be more transparent and present within the community. Having recently hosted a mammoth 6-hour Reddit AMA, Ben will be out and about spreading the good word, and hosting a Magento U seminar on Multisite Planning on Day 1 of Magento Live.

2 – Roger Willcocks
Head honcho at British ecommerce agency, Screenpages, Roger has presided over a number of very successful campaigns and builds with clients as diverse as ChicBaby, Capital Gardens and Watco. A veteran of digital and retail, he’s definitely a good person to link with. Roger presented on the Marketing track of last year’s Magento Live (below).

3 – Mitch Goldman
You can’t talk about the Magento community in London without mentioning Mitch. Website Product Owner at Made.com, a UK furniture startup success, Mitch is also one of the leading organisers for London’s Magento Meetup, and Chief wrangler for MageHack – the annual Magento Hackathon. Mitch is a much needed missing link between developers and merchants. We got a preview of his talk, ‘Interacting with Developers’ at a recent Magento Meetup – project managers should not miss this! Mitch is running a survey for his talk – link below – help shape the conversation!

4 – Jonty Sutton
Presiding over one of the most prolific ecommerce agencies, Redbox Digital, Jonty brings over 15 years of experience in ecommerce to the table. Redbox Digital implemented UK giftware brand Paperchase’s site – which snapped up the ‘Best Design’ Award at this year’s Magento Imagine in Las Vegas. Jonty has helped bring some of the UK’s most traditional retailers, such as Fortnum & Masons and Heal’s into the digital age.
Very happy with all the feedback from our recent win in Vegas! #Magento award for "Best Site – Design" for @FromPaperchase

5 – Roger Wade
It’s been a great few years for Roger, Founder and CEO of Boxpark, Shoreditch’s world-famous pop-up mall. Earlier this year, Roger gave the keynote at Magento Imagine, Las Vegas, on how retail should aspire to be an experience of entertainment, regardless of the medium. An amazing mix of the unorthodox and creativity, Roger features on the Multi-Channel seminar at Magento Live. Definitely one to follow.

6 – Tom Robertshaw
Tom is an entrepreneur through and through. With enough nominations and awards for business innovation to sink a small ship, Tom is a lynchpin of the global Magento community. His eCommerce development agency, Meanbee, has been building for Magento since its inception in 2009 – almost as long as Magento’s been around. He’s presented at Meet Magento Netherlands, Poland and Spain, and his personal site tomrobershaw.net is a great resource for anyone with the slightest interest in eCommerce (big shout out for his annual eCommerce Survey). Tom will be speaking on Day 2 on creating great UX through Responsive Design.
I found up to 16 times more responsive ecommerce sites this year compared to last. Absolutely massive growth http://t.co/40X87otauT

7 – Bharat Sharma
If there’s a Magento or Drupal community in the vicinity, chances are that Bharat, founder/CEO of Monsoon Consulting will be there. Bharat built Monsoon into one of Ireland’s leading Magento implementation houses, and combined with his experience as Drupal Association Secretary makes him a great repository of all things UX.
Heading to Utrecht for #DrupalCxO can't wait to meet all the Drupal pandits 🙂
